HOW IT CAME ABOUT....
In October 2008 John went into the studio to record an album with the Doctors, Finland's premier Rock'n'Roll band And then, leaving his Bass back in England he began a tour as front man and vocalist promoting the new album. They played 4 sell-out gigs in Finland culminating in the famous " On The Rocks " club in the capital, Helsinki.   The response at the gigs and in the press afterwards was fantastic. My good friend  Juha "Nisse" Kärkkäinen of Finnish band "The BopCats" ( see Links)  sent the following photos and wrote "Hi mate!  Again its me and my camera, here is a few photos from the last night, it was brilliant gig.....i mean really brilliant!!! Jeah!!! ".  Thanks, Nisse - the photos are fantastic.......................... (click on photos for bigger pictures)

           

It'll be out on the Finnish label: Goofin' Records, as 2009 is Goofin's  25th anniversary year . What a  way to celebrate the occasion - the first solo album ever by Johnny Spence, together with Doctor's Order. Two gigs have been booked to celebrate the release.

DOCTOR`S ORDER is a trio that plays a naughty kind of rhythm & blues and rock'n'roll with the sounds of Dr. Feelgood, The Pirates and George Thorogood.  The band started in 1998 and since that has toured and amazed audiences with its hard driving music and action packed stage show all over Finland.

Before Doctor`s Order the bass player and vocalist Teppo "Teddy Bear" Nättilä, also a radio DJ,  used to play with the legendary Finnish rock'n'roll band called Jolly B Good that made three highly regarded albums in the early 90's. With that band they opened shows for example for such bands as Georgia Satellites, Canned Heat, Omar & The Howlers and Dr Feelgood.

Grande-Archie Hämäläinen is an excellent guitarist who plays lots of hard hitting and mean sounding slide guitar with Doctor`s Order. Archie has earlier played with several well known line ups and  in mid-80's he toured in Italy with the Finnish rock'n'roll band called Black Slacks.

The drummer Kimmo "Mighty" Oikarinen joined the practice at the end of September 2007. He has played drums for 25 years, and is a swinging drummer which suits the Doc's rockin' an' rollin' style. Kimmo has previously played with various line-ups in Finland, especially memorable is his long stint as a drummer with the legendary blues lady Erja Lyytinen's band called Dave's Special. Dr. Oikarinen really is a different kind of Doctor, and one can hear his drumming also (along with Grande-Archie) with Finnish swing-jump-rock'n'roll-quartet Mighty Four.
